Time Track - Time Type Derivation Config

This Article will help you configure Time Type Derivation Configuration using CodeBot for SAP SuccessFactors.


  1. Login to your CodeBot account. On the Dashboard click on Employee Central & then locate & click on the Time Track Module.



  1. Enter into your workspace.


  1. In the workspace, open the fully generated Time Track workbook to the Time Type Derivation Config tab.


Enter the required information in the following columns:


  • Column B: Set the Processing Status to Pending.
  • Column C: Enter the Processing / External Code.
  • Column E: Enter the default External Code.
  • Column G: Enter the Derivation / External Code.
  • Column H: Enter the Time Event Type.
  • Column I: Enter the Time Type.
  • Column J: Enter the Category, if applicable.
  • Column K: Enter the Derivation Rules – External Code.


Note: You can enter either the Time Type in Column I or the Category in Column J. Both fields cannot be processed simultaneously.




  • Close the workbook.


  1. Back in CodeBot, click on the hamburger menu and select Start Configuration.




  1. On the left-hand side, enter your SAP SuccessFactors password or sign in using SSO (if it is configured for your instance). Next, enter the Execution Notes. On the right-hand side, under Advanced Options, select the Time Type Derivation Config checkbox and choose the desired execution mode (Standard or Optimized (Beta)). Finally, click Confirm and Start to begin the execution.



  1. As the status changes to processing you can monitor the execution. Below is the article attached for iteration monitoring.

  1. Once the status shows complete. Review the screenshots in the logs to see where the changes have been made in the instance.




  1. Reopen the Time Track workbook and navigate to the Time Type Derivation Config worksheet. Notice that the data you added is now highlighted in green, which means that the changes are successfully pushed to the instance.




  1. To verify, open the SAP SuccessFactors instance and navigate to Manage Data. Select Clock In Clock Out Time Type Derivation Configuration from the dropdowm. Next, select the External Code from the drop down. Notice that the data has been successfully updated in the instance using CodeBot for SAP SuccessFactors.




Note: If anything doesn’t appear as expected, check CodeBot execution logs and send us the Tracking Request ID via the chat box in the lower right-hand corner.
