EC – Updating MDF Objects Fields

Streamlining MDF Objects Fields in Employee Central with CodeBot

This guide details the process for updating MDF Objects Fields in Employee Central using CodeBot, enabling seamless execution, progress tracking, and verification in SAP SuccessFactors.

Log into the CodeBot dashboard and access the Employee Central module.



Then, enter into your workspace.



Open the Employee Central Workbook and navigate to the MDF Objects Fields tab.

Populate the required columns as follows:

Column B: Enter an Object ID to identify the MDF Object you are updating.
Column C: Add the corresponding Field IDs for the fields you wish to update.
Column D: Specify the Maximum Length allowed for the fields.
Column E: Provide the Data Type.
Column F: Enter the source of valid values for the fields, if applicable.
Column G: Set the Hide Old Value field to either Yes or No.
Column I: Set Include Inactive Users to Yes or No.
Column K: Define the Transient Field as Yes or No.



Column M: Enable or disable the Mask Value on UI (Yes/No).
Column N: Specify whether to Show Trailing Zeros (Yes/No).
Column P: Indicate whether to Hide Seconds (Yes/No).
Column Q: Mark the field as Mandatory/Required (Yes/No).

Column R: Set the Visibility to one of the following options:
Editable
Read Only
Not Visible

Column S: Select Yes or No from the dropdown to indicate if the field is currently in use.
Column T: Provide the Label.
Column U: Set the Cascade fields to either Save or None, based on the required action.
Column V: Indicate the End of Period field status (Yes/No).
Column W: Mark the Is Business Key Field as Yes or No.



Column AN: Enter the Processing Object ID.
Column AO: Set the processing status pending.

Save & close the workbook.



Back in CodeBot, click on the hamburger menu and select Start Configuration.



If SSO is implemented, log in using SSO.
Enter Execution Notes, check the MDF Objects Fields checkbox, and click on Confirm and Start to begin the process.



Execution is processing. Click the “i” icon to track the progress.



Refresh the logs to view updated information.



Once Complete, review the screenshots to see where the changes have been made in the instance.



Reopen the Employee Central workbook. Successfully updated information will be highlighted in green.





The Processing Status column will display as Processed.



Open your SAP SuccessFactors instance and navigate to Configure Object Definitions.
Search for the MDF Object you just updated the fields for using the Object ID.



Scroll down to the Fields section and confirm that the MDF Object Fields has been successfully updated in the instance via CodeBot.



By following these steps, you can seamlessly update the MDF Object Fields, ensuring both accuracy and efficiency with CodeBot.
