Robotics - Role Based Permissions (RBP)

  • Create/have a recent RBP workbook available
    • The purpose of a current RBP workbook is for the bot to determine what portlets are currently permissioned in your environment.  It uses this data to populate the Robotics sheet.  For example, if you have the Banking Portlet turned on but not permissioned, it will not show in the Robotics sheet.
  • Go to Robotics, add new iteration and use the RBP workbook
  • Once the Iteration has created, select the Hamburger Menu, select Prepare Sheet then select Prepare Sheet then confirm and start - KBA for Prepare Workbook

  • Once the sheet has been prepared, open the workbook and go to the Robotics RBP tab
  • Each test is aligned per column.  You can enter up to 20 tests at a time.
  • User to proxy – whose access is being tested
  • User to View – which user is being reviewed
  • BasicInfo – Capture Evidence – always set as TRUE, this tells the bot to take screenshots

Common scenarios are listed below:

  • Fill out the section that you want the bot to access and take screenshots of i.e. if you are only testing Address, or Employment Details – you would select the access the user should have.
  • Set the employee status to Pending
  • Close the workbook, go to the iteration and select request reprocess and then Start Automation, then RBP Robotics including relevant Execution notes

  • Once the bot has finished, reopen the workbook.
    • Cells are that are not green indicate that the bot identified that the screenshot does not match the value entered i.e. when View is highlighted as not green, it’s because you’ve indicated the User should have view access to that field and the bot has identified that the UI did not match this – it either showed no access or it had edit access.  This is when you would fix RBP, and retest.
