EC - Adding Message Definition

Step-by-Step Guide: Executing Message Definition in Employee Central Using CodeBot

This comprehensive guide will walk you through creating new Message Definition, tracking execution progress, and verifying changes in SAP SuccessFactors with CodeBot.

Step 1: Access the Employee Central Module.



To begin updating Message Definition, log into your CodeBot dashboard. Locate and click on the Employee Central module tile.



Then, enter into your workspace.


Step 2: Open the Employee Central Workbook



Open the Employee Central Workbook and navigate to the Message Definition tab. This is where you'll initiate the process of adding or updating Message Definition.

Populate the required columns as follows:

Column B: Enter the Text.

Column C: Add a new External Code.

Column D: Input a new name.

Column E: Set the status to Active.

Across the divider,

Column G: Re-enter the same external code.

Column H: Set the Parameters – Data Type to string.

Column I: Add the Parameters - External Code.

Column J: Input Parameters – Name.

Column K: Set the Parameters – Status to Active.

Across the divider,

Column M: Enter the Processing Object ID.

Column N: Set the Processing Status to pending.

Save and close the workbook.





Step 3: Start Configuration in CodeBot



Back in CodeBot, click on the hamburger menu and select Start Configuration.



If the SSO is implemented, Login using SSO, enter Execution Notes, check the Message Definition checkbox, and click on Confirm and Start to begin the process.



Step 4: Track the Execution Progress



Execution is processing. Click the “i” icon to track the progress.



Refresh the logs to view updated information.



Once Complete, review the screenshots to see where the changes have been made in the instance.



Step 5: Review Updated Workbook



Reopen the Employee Central Workbook and navigate to the Message Definition tab.
Successfully updated information will be highlighted in green.
The Processing Status column will display as Processed.





Step 6: Verify in SuccessFactors



Open your SAP SuccessFactors instance.
Navigate to Manage Data.
Search for the Message Definition using the external code or the Name you just created.



Confirm that the new Message Definition has been successfully created and updated in the instance via CodeBot.
