Dependency Analyzer Tool in CodeBot for SAP SuccessFactors.

Overview

CodeBot now supports Dependent Analyzer. It Visualizes field and object dependencies across SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central, helping administrators understand the downstream impact of configuration changes before they're made.

Purpose

The Dependent Analyzer allows administrators to:

  • Visualize field and object dependencies
  • Analyze business rule relationships
  • Identify integration dependencies
  • Assess the risk associated with modifying or deleting fields and rules

Steps to Access and Run the Tool

  1. To access the Dependent Analyzer module, From the CodeBot dashboard, click on the Dependent Analyzer module.

  1. This is the new UI for the dependency analyzer Tool. You can access the previous iterations from the drop down. You can see the execution history of the iteration, by clicking on the history icon. You can also see the current iteration status.

  1. By clicking on the settings button, you can create a new iteration and generate analysis.  You can also generate the analysis for the existing iterations by selecting the EC, Integration, and CPI workbooks from the dropdowns. Lets generate a new analysis.

  1. Here, Add the iteration number, you can select your workspace from the dropdown, provide the description, Select, Impact Analysis EC, Employee Central, Integration Center and Impact Analysis Integration Employee Central iterations from the dropdowns. These are the EC workbooks, Integration, CPI workbooks that will be used for generating the analysis. Finally, click on Run Analysis to begin the process.

  • The execution is now processing. Click on the execution history icon to track the progress of the execution. Refresh the logs to view the updated information.

  1. Once the execution is complete, click on the EC Dependency Graph tab. On the left-hand panel, select any Root Field/Object to view its dependencies. You can also filter the dependency types, including, HRIS, Rules, Workflows, Integrations and MDF.

  • Under View Options, you can enable, Direct Dependencies Only, to display only directly connected dependencies and High Risk Only to display only high-risk dependencies
  • After selecting a field or object, the Field & Object Dependency Graph section displays a visual representation of all related dependencies in the center panel. This helps you analyze which business rules, workflows, integrations, or other configurations are dependent on a particular field or object.

  • The tool also provides a Risk View, allowing you to understand the potential impact and risk level associated with modifying or deleting a field.

  1. You can then navigate to the Business Rules Analyzer screen, select any business rule, and view a similar dependency graph along with its associated risk analysis for the selected rule.

  1. Additionally, the Search option at the top allows you to quickly search for any field, object, or business rule within the Dependency Analyzer.

  1. The Dependency Analyzer tool in CodeBot for SAP SuccessFactors allows you to export the configuration details for further review and analysis. By clicking on the Export button, you can download the configuration in an Excel sheet format.

  1. Once the sheet is downloaded, open it and navigate through the exported tabs. As shown in the example below, the report provides a summary of the detected dependencies along with their associated risk levels. It also highlights important details such as the root field, total dependencies, and categorized risk items (High, Medium, and Low).

Note: If anything doesn’t appear as expected, check CodeBot execution logs and send us the Tracking Request ID via the chat box in the lower right-hand corner.
